Introducing the 2025 Social Impact Projects: Bold Ideas, Real Change
Twelve weeks ago, twenty remarkable young women joined the Future Female Leaders Program with big dreams and a willingness to grow. Since then, they’ve thrown themselves into leadership workshops, tackled complex issues with their mentors, and built unshakeable bonds through group coaching and peer support.
But beyond the personal growth and skill-building lies one of the most powerful parts of the FFL experience – the Social Impact Project.
Each Future Female Leader was challenged to explore what matters most to them and to connect it with a global issue by choosing a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal that resonated deeply. From that starting point, they designed a social impact initiative – a bold, scalable and sustainable project to create positive change in their communities and beyond.
These aren’t school assignments. They’re passion-driven, purpose-led concepts that reflect the creativity, intelligence, and empathy of our next generation of leaders. And last week, for the very first time, those ideas were brought into the spotlight.
At our annual Pitch Night, the room at Spacecubed was buzzing with anticipation from 80+ mentors, investors and cheerleaders. Each participant had 90 seconds to pitch their idea, share their story, and make the case for why their project deserved support. They then joined the Hot Seat, where they answered questions from our panel of mock angel investors: Megan MacNeill and Dani Riebe.
They spoke with honesty and conviction. They faced questions with composure and clarity. And they left with more than just feedback – they left with encouragement, connections, and the first spark of real-world backing for their ideas.
Our audience wasn’t just there to listen — they leaned in. They offered insights, resources, and ideas. They celebrated each girl’s courage. And most importantly, they reminded every young leader in the room that she’s not doing this alone.
Over the coming months, these 20 Future Female Leaders will work to turn their projects into action. They’ll test, tweak and troubleshoot. They’ll fundraise, campaign, build partnerships, and learn what it takes to bring a vision to life. And as they do, we’ll continue to stand beside them – as cheerleaders, collaborators and proud witnesses to their leadership in action.
Because when you combine purpose with leadership and surround it with belief – powerful things happen.
With generous funding from Rio Tinto’s Community Giving Program, each participant will receive $200 towards their Social Impact Project expenses. We can’t wait to see where these projects go next!
